Jesus Christ was born two thousand years ago in the Roman province of Judaea, modern Israel. Witnesses say that after his thirtieth year, he became a preacher and a spiritual leader, a healer, and a teacher. People came to him from everywhere, some with questions “What can I do to be saved?”, some with needs “My daughter is sick”, “My son has epileptic fits”, some out of love for him and what he said “Lord, you have the words of eternal life. To whom could we go other than you?”. Some hated him for his teaching, “How come you do not keep the Sabbath?”, others for his miracles, “By the devil’s power he does these things”, and others just hated him because he was good, “He cured others, let him save himself, if he can”. Some were afraid of what he said and wouldn’t go to him in public, “Nicomdemus went to him by night because of the fear of the Jews”.
What he claimed was to be the son of God. He claimed that he had come down from heaven, that he was to make open a way for men to be saved through him, a way of humility, a way of suffering, a way of mercy. He was to be the sacrifice for the sins of the world, a perfect sacrifice, a spotless victim, offered for you and for me.
We are sinners who need God’s help to live well. God himself came down as a man, Jesus Christ, to give us that help, in a way more wonderful than we could have ever dreamed. He came down from heaven so we could go up to it. He died on the cross so we wouldn’t have to. He took our hatred, our sins, our needs, and carried them himself to his death so that we could receive mercy, peace, joy, and trust in the radical goodness of God. What he made for us was a way to be like him: “What we will be after this life, we do not know; but we do know we will be like him, for we will see him as he is.” – By Tim Kearns
Jesus is our Savior. He came to set us free from sin and one day by his grace allow us to live with him. He is here for each and everyone of us. And he cares for you.
Jesus said to him, “I AM the way, the truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6-7
